Heading for the home straight
We introduced a share-race competition for our Investment Management clients, BWD Rensburg (now Investec) and invited schools and sixth form colleges each to enter a team.
The teams were all awarded a theoretical £100,000 to invest in the stock market over a six month period and their investment progress was followed closely in the media on a month by month basis.
After the first year, The Yorkshire post agreed to publish a monthly league table showing how the teams were doing. We focused on who was making the best investment choices as well as where choices hadn’t worked out quite so well.
We also managed to arrange some visits to the Companies in focus and hear about their business plans.
At the end of the competition the best performing team won a cheque for £1000 for their school as well as a coveted silver trophy.
We ran the competition for six years achieving regular monthly media coverage for our client BWD Rensburg (now Investec).
